Rustic Barn Wedding in Dover, Wisconsin
The Farm at Dover is a beautiful and unique venue with a big red barn and absolutely gorgeous outdoor spaces. The perfect venue for Kaitlyn’s wedding vision. What I love most about Kaitlyn and Rocky’s love story is that they were brought together with the most perfect timing.
Meeting by happenstance, they weren’t quite ready for each other or love yet. Kaitlyn moved to a new city, finished grad school, followed her passions, while keeping in touch with Rocky. When you start doing what you want and fulfilling yourself that’s when we become capable of attracting love. Before long, they were planning their lives together.
Casual and carefree was what they wanted in a venue. Something that was different from the traditional venue and really spoke to them. Many personal details were incorporated into their day, including love quotes that resonated with them and their relationship.
It also ended up being a beautiful day, the chance of rain and storms disappeared as the day went on. Later that day, the sun peeked out for a few photos too. Overall, it was the perfect day.

Amy and Mark really wanted an element of “creating” in their wedding. They desired to incorporate handmade, vintage, and everyday life items with a personal touch. They, along with some of their closest friends, built, designed, and created every item. This wedding had so many awesome handmade little details, due in part to the groom being a graphic designer and amazingly talented artist. He has a contract design business called Eddy Mumbles and specializes in brand development, custom lettering, and illustration. The wood signage and cupcake trays were done freehand with a wood burner, the aisle sign was done freehand on cardstock. The super cute cake topper was made from chopsticks, yute, and brush pen on card-stock. He even made the chalkboard sign freehand in the hour before the ceremony started.
The flower arrangements were made the morning of from bulk flowers by a friend who started her own floral business called “Dream in Flowers”. The vases for the centerpieces were hand carved/made by their friends. Since the groom doesn’t really like cake, they opted for cupcakes (not much different right??) by a local cupcake business named Molly’s that makes the best cupcake in Chicago. The arch in the ceremony was made from trees discovered by their friends, they were the “perfect” shape and simply woven together. Dried flowers were thrown for the bride and groom’s escape, these were collected and saved by the bride from flowers the groom had given her during their dating years. The guestbook table was made from a door the couple owned that was a part of a Frank Lloyd Wright house. The bride’s ceremony dress was a vintage dress that still had the tags attached when she discovered it and was the perfect fit! The musicians, also whom were friends of friends, played some of the couples favorite songs. The result was a beautiful celebration with a relaxed, rustic feel.
Amy and Mark, your wedding was beautiful and so much fun to photograph. I wish you the best as you start your lives together. Thank you for choosing me to photograph such an important day in your lives.
